Change Your Life by Changing Your Mind

November 1, 2019

Change Your Life by Changing Your MindA belief is referred to as the truth or reality of something or someone as valid. Beliefs are formed from the information that surrounds us whether we see it, feel it, or hear it. From a young age, information begins flooding us through all of our senses. The things we have seen, heard, and experienced growing up in our environments have been collected and stored in our subconscious mind to form a belief system that we now operate from. This belief system can be both positive and negative. It can improve our life in many magnificent ways or it can hinder our experiences by creating difficulties and struggles, also known as limiting beliefs. The beliefs we have are the building blocks to who we are. They affect our self-esteem, relationships, jobs, and health. There are ways to swap out limiting beliefs for better ones, but first we need to understand how the mind works.

Conscious/Subconscious Mind
There exists a conscious mind and a subconscious mind. The conscious mind represents the “I” in “I am happy”. The conscious mind absorbs information to sort through to make decisions or to learn something new. It is highly fixated on events that happened in the past or things that might happen in the future. The subconscious mind is habitual. It operates our entire body from motor functions to heart rate without any guidance from us. The subconscious mind observes the surrounding world, reads environmental cues, and immediately engages previously learned behaviors. The conscious mind controls our behavior 5% of the time whereas, the subconscious mind controls our behavior 95% of the time. Thus, it could be theorized that humans are living their lives on autopilot the majority of the time. When we learn to drive a car, we are using the conscious mind to learn the skill. Once this is accomplished, the subconscious mind takes over by accessing the previously learned skill of driving that car.

A limiting belief is something that you believe to be true about yourself, others or the world that obstructs you in your life. These beliefs may be holding you back from accomplishing goals, finding a partner, losing weight and so on. Most of the time, people are not aware of any limiting beliefs they might have concerning their life. They are actively participating in the necessary steps to reach a desired outcome but for some reason they cannot seem to attain them and they do not know why. For instance, a woman struggling with losing weight is consistently exercising and eating healthy to no avail. She cannot lose the weight no matter what she does. She may have an underlying belief that says, “I am ugly”, “I am a failure”, or “I am not good enough”. These limiting beliefs, located deep in her subconscious mind, are driving her life in that direction. As long as they remain, any action she takes will result in validation of these limiting beliefs.

Make Changes Subconsciously
Sometimes it isn’t enough to consciously will yourself to get that job, date that person, lose that weight, or finish that race. As long as the old subconscious programs are running in your hard drive, the outcomes will continue to be futile. How can we change our default settings at the subconscious level of the mind to improve the quality of our life? One way is a process called PSYCH-K®, originated by Robert M. Williams. PSYCH-K® offers a simple and direct way to change self-limiting beliefs at the subconscious level of the mind where nearly all of human behavior comes from.

After a person discovers what belief they want to change, the first step is connecting with the subconscious mind. Since the subconscious mind directs motor functions and muscle movements, a built-in communication link already exists through muscle testing. Muscle testing is ideal for identifying what underlying beliefs are supported by the person because an electrical signal is sent through the body when a person agrees or disagrees with a thought or statement. This is expressed through the body as either a weak or strong response.

Once a connection is made with the subconscious mind, a person can quickly make appropriate changes through what is called a PSYCH-K® balance. This is a process designed to activate both right and left hemispheres of the brain known as a whole-brain state. Each hemisphere of the brain specializes in different functions and processes different information. The right hemisphere guides emotions and intuition while the left hemisphere uses logic and reason. Most people over-identify with one hemisphere over the other, which can sometimes contribute to conflicts or challenges they face simply due to one side of the brain dominating their perception. The subconscious mind can more fully respond to changes when a person is in a whole brain state where the qualities of both brain hemispheres are operating at once.

Several important attributes of PSYCH-K® allow it to stand out more than other ways designed to change limiting beliefs. One is that it is a do-with process that depends on the inner wisdom of the person seeking change. Healing and change can only come from within and cannot be done for another person. With the help of a PSYCH-K® facilitator, this approach empowers the individual and allows them to take responsibility for the changes they seek to make. Part of that process includes resourcing the guidance from not only the person’s subconscious mind but also the Superconscious Mind or Divine Intelligence. Another important feature of PSYCH-K® is a protocol that requests the participation from the Superconscious Mind. This is a safety measure devised to ensure that all changes are appropriate for the individual. Some “problems” can actually be opportunities in disguise.

Our belief systems have been producing both positive and negative experiences throughout our lives. We already possess the tools to create the experiences that we want. All we have to do is change our mind to change our life.
