Most holistic business owners dread knowing their financial position and as a result, your level of abundance is directly impacted. This month’s column is dedicated to inspiring you to know your numbers and clearly understand your financial picture. When this important information is clearly defined, you consciously raise your manifesting vibration.
Know Your Impact
“Success is measured by impact, impact is rewarded with abundance, abundance is defined by you.” This is a quote by yours truly. These wise words came to me when I was struggling with how to measure success in my own business. I realized that abundance for me was not all about money, it was also about freedom to work from home and to enjoy my personal life. For most, money is a clear indicator of the impact that you are making in your work.
Climb the Grid
In the energetics of money, there is an important tool called the Wealth Grid. The grid clearly displays the correlation between what you are willing to charge for your work and the caliber of the clients that you attract in. The more you value your work (and charge appropriately), you will attract in clients who are more willing to invest in your solutions. This results in more impact for your clients and more abundance for you.
Pay Yourself First
In the book, Profit First by Michael Michalowicz, he clearly states that you should take out your profit before you pay your bills. The traditional thinking is income less expenses = profit. Michael suggests we change our thinking to income less profit = expenses. What “paying yourself first” requires is a clear understanding of your expenses and potentially making deals with your vendors to lower your expenses. It also gives you built in discipline to stop spending too much.
Pay All Your Bills
A wealth coach once told me to set up checks for all my monthly bills on the first day of the month. Even if the check was not set to go out until the 15th of the month, I have let the Universe know that I needed to receive at least $x amount of funds during the month to cover my expenses. If I can manifest more $, even better! This suggestion takes courage and keeping an eye on your checking account balance. It is not a set it and forget it model!
Don’t Waste Cash
Cash in hand in your business can be so seductive. It cries out to you, “Buy something for yourself, you deserve it.” Yes, just another book from Amazon! Yes, another workshop! Yes, go out to lunch more often! It’s so easy to rationalize taking the cash and spending it – who will know? The right question is – do you need the cash to meet your financial obligations in your business?
Bank Balance Blunders
Your bank balance is not a true reflection of your financial position. Ideally, you are reconciling your bank account each month. If you are not, then a common mistake is not leaving enough money in your account to cover checks that have not been cashed. It is also important to have a profit and loss statement that you can review each month. The quickest way to do that is to manage your finances in a software system like Quicken or QuickBooks.
Your Financial Story
When you review your business financials, what are they saying to you? A simple way to hear your financial story, is to calculate your expense items as a percentage of your revenue. This will tell you if your expenses are reasonable or too high. On the flip side, if your expenses are mostly fixed (meaning they do not fluctuate), then you will know how much more you need to increase your sales to first pay yourself and then pay your expenses.
Bottom Line
The Universe is made of energy and each of its components has a unique vibration. This means that you, your business, your clients and your money each are energy and have a unique vibration. When you learn to honor and integrate your unique components into a lean, mean vibrating machine, you will have the abundance you deserve.
